Probably arrived a while back, but I’ve been on vacation for a week. Some neat French weirdness with the Citroen and a useless box.

This thing has great comedic timing, it has trolled me several times while trying to get a video:

Remember how I was unwisely buying Citroen diecasts? I actually bought a 1:18 DS and the 1:24 DS convertible for myself (over Senna budget). You can have either/both probably next time I see you at an oppomeet.

Both the DS and the DS convertible were shipping from overseas, so I couldn’t slate them for Senna gifts... even though one of them arrived the day I was sending the box off. The big DS is actually disappointing in that the hood doesn’t open... the DS convertible still hasn’t arrived.

I actually had the idea for sending a useless box before I had a pick, but given it was you I immediately started shopping Citroen diecasts and thought of the “funny note” to tie the two together.

There are actually SM, 2CV, and even Ami diecasts out there, but some are wildly expensive and others were in the affordable-but-overseas category. I figured to get the two DS to “vroom vroom” around my desk for a while, but you probably want them more than I do, so I’ll be willing to pass them along after a few miles in my desk dealership.

Haha, I won’t turn them down, but don’t feel obliged to either. My fleet has outgrown my apartment, as witnessed by the 917L sitting on my kitchen table because my display cases are completely full as well as the ~100 HW cars sitting just off camera on one of my kitchen table benches.

I need to work on getting my house plans drawn out so I can get some additional display space.

Knowing that your collection was already overflowing was a big motivator to get you more . Helping friends with problems grow them to bigger problems is just being neighborly, that’s what.

On the topic of useless boxes, I got one of my younger brothers a useless box that has a little tiger head and a paw to flip the switch off. It has an arduino-based controller that runs through a random set of possible switchoffs. Everything from popping lid open, closing, popping open and flipping off, to repeatedly placing the paw over the switch right about at the interval that you’d be reaching to switch it on again. It’s pretty lit, but lacks the elegant pointlessness of the original style.
